IT WASN’T PRETTY, but for Queen’s College (QC) it sure was sweet.
Led by star player and Most Valuable Player Ashlee Daniel, the girls from Husbands captured their second ever WIBISCO Shirley Girls’ basketball title when they defeated Combermere 44-37 in an exciting final at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex yesterday.
Daniel scored three crucial points in the game’s final minutes to cap a game-high 16-point performance, as QC added another title to the one they won back in 2009.
For Ryan Holford, coach of the winning team, it was not only a moment to celebrate but also reflect on the loss of a loved one.
