Fifty children under the care of the Child Care Board will be smiling broadly as a result of a gift of educational toys from Sandy Lane Hotel yesterday at the five-diamond resort in St James.
Resident manager Eric Mapp, making the presentation to the board’s director Joan Crawford, said that the gifts were part of Sandy Lane’s contribution to the Child Care Board at the launch of Child Month in May.
Mapp added that Sandy Lane had adopted Farr’s Children Home and was moving towards setting up a similar relationship with a secondary school.
Crawford said that the 50 toys would go towards children in some of the homes as well as children at day care centres.
“Sandy Lane had been very good to us during the past two years and they have proven to be extremely good corporate partners with the Child Care Board,” Crawford said.
Recently, some of the residents of Sandy Lane raised a substantial amount of funds, and some of the children from Farr’s were entertained at the hotel as part of the ceremony for the handing over of the funds.
