After 50 years, the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus has finally received institutional accreditation.
The institution was presented with the certificate yesterday by the Barbados Accreditation Council at the BAC’s Roebuck Street, St Michael head office.
Yvonne Walkes, chairman of the BAC, said achieving the accreditation would result in international recognition.
“In small developing countries such as Barbados where competition comes not  only from local providers of education and training services, accreditation can provide that competitive edge within the tertiary education and training environment,” she said. (JCM)
