Jamaican Olympic gold medallist Asafa Powell and his MVP team mate Sherone Simpson have tested positive for banned substances.
The details of the positives tests are unclear but Simpson, a 100m silver medal winner at the 2008 Olympic Games has already issued a statement.
She is a gold medallist in the 4x100m relay from the 2004 Olympics. Powell, a member of Jamaica’s Beijing Olympics gold-medal-winning relay team and a former world record holder, has also returned a positive test The Gleaner understands. A release will follow shortly from his agent Paul Doyle. The news comes just minutes after American Tyson Gay was also reported as having been tested positive for a banned substance.
