Barbadians are being encouraged to make input in a White Paper on Tourism Development which will form the basis of a Tourism Master Plan for the island.
Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy, speaking at the White Paper launch today, said tourism was now a $1.2 billion industry for Barbados and could no longer be operated on an “ad hoc” basis.
The recently-reactivated Tourism Advisory Council chaired by Dr Sherma Roberts has been given responsibility for leading the process for the development of the White Paper.
Addressing the meeting of tourism stakeholders at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre today, Roberts said the White Paper would be a policy document designed to provide the strategic direction for Barbados’ tourism development over the next ten years. (GC)
