Members of Parliament are expected to pay tribute to the late Prime Minister David Thompson when sitting of the House of Assembly resumes today after a week’s recess for a period of national mourning and the state funeral.
The 48-year-old Thompson, QC, was buried last Wednesday in the churchyard of St John’s Anglican Church. His interment followed a thanksgiving service at Kensington Oval, popularly known as the mecca of West Indies cricket.
Order Paper items before the House include bills on the Environmental Levy, Financial Services Commission, Prevention of Corruption, Companies Act, Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Prevention and Control) and International Corporate and Trust Service Providers.
Other items are resolutions for the compulsory acquisition of land at Sam Lord’s Castle in Long Bay, St Philip and Vauxhall, Christ Church, as well as the vesting of Crown land at Parish Land, St Philip, in the National Housing Corporation. (BGIS)
