Blaze of petalled glory

ALL SOULS Anglican church threw open its doors and dazzled visitors and church members with some of the most beautiful flower arrangements, on Saturday.
Local flowers like anthuriums and ginger lillies decorated the church pews, windows and the altar area, some of which were created by well known arrangers.
Church member Dr Simone Alleyne said the festival themed Craftsman’s Art And Music’s Measure incorporating flowers and musical instruments, was a first for the church.
She noted the effort was a a combination of friendship, flowers, fun and fellowship.
Alleyne, who is a member of the Altar Guild, said the group asked some of their friends to come out and give of their time and talent, in aid of the church’s building fund.
“We need to extend our vestry and to upgrade our bathroom facilities, and to have an updated public address system. We have a very elderly population, and most of the time it’s not convenient if it’s raining for us to get outside. We recently changed the roof and this is the phase two of that,” she stated.
Among those displaying their creations were well known arrangers Carolyn Parris-Boyce, Trevor Inniss and David Yearwood. (CT)
