SOME SCHOOLS MAY BE ready to start with a “bang” come Monday, but there are loud noises to the contrary concerning at least two urban schools.
Mere days after Minister of Education Ronald Jones boasted about the state of readiness of schools across the island, the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) was called in to assess conditions at Society Primary and St Jude’s Primary. Visits were made to Society on Thursday and again yesterday.
Such is the situation at Society that union president Pedro Shepherd expects that the entire roll of just under 90 students will have to be resited for at least the first four weeks of this Michaelmas term. (YB)
