Sutherland top junior of Tour Trinidad

YET ANOTHER OF CYCLING’s young talents has made a name for himself on the regional stage.
Edwin Sutherland is now the toast of the Caribbean after taking the junior category of the coveted four-stage Tour Of Trinidad And Tobago last weekend.
The talented teen signalled his intentions from the opening stage, placing second in the King George V night criterium before winning stage two in Point Fortin to take a lead he never surrendered.
Fellow Bajan Jason Perryman finished fourth overall in the general classification after taking the first stage in the open category and registering a couple of sixth-place finishes.
Heatwave teammate and Barbados national champ Jamol Eastmond was sixth following a creditable second-place ride in the fourth and final stage at Mucurapo Foreshore.
Hometown boy Emile Abraham was the overall winner, while Guyanese Geron Williams and Calixto Bello, of the United States, finished second and third, respectively. (JM)
