Barbados to host FEI World Challenge

BARBADOS will be hosting the prestigious 2012 FEI World Dressage Challenge at the Cleland Equestrian Facility, Farley Hill, on February 29.
Following a successful showing last year, the host country will be eagerly looking forward to a repeat performance in the upcoming event, which will be officiated by international equestrian judges Mariano Santos of Spain and Ricardo Rojas Cruz of Costa Rica.
Now in its 32nd year, the BRC-sponsored Barbados contingent will be mounting the second of preliminary events leading up to the main event on Sunday at Farley Hill from 8:30 a.m., to ensure as per FEI guidelines, that horses and riders are prepared to do their best.
The first lead-up event, which was held last Sunday, and the second one provide an opportunity for anyone interested in dressage competitions to see what the sport is all about.
The FEI World Dressage Challenge has grown over the years, from only 16 countries represented in 1982 to an estimated 55 countries which are scheduled to participate this year.
The increase in numbers is proof of the effectiveness in promoting equestrian culture throughout the world.
Members of the Barbados Equestrians visited BRC’s offices in Cane Garden recently where they were presented with their sponsorship cheque from sales manager Mark Worme and general manager Peter Collett. (PR/EZS)
