Brian and Dawn-Marie Armstrong may be separated by distance and time – 4 203 miles and a five-hour time difference to be exact, but their love couldn’t be stronger.
The couple, who married on July 23, 2016, after just 18 months of dating, were existing in marital bliss. Brian and Dawn-Marie were enjoying every moment with each other and doing the things any newlyweds would do. But at the end of 2017, a few months after celebrating their first wedding anniversary, Dawn-Marie, a sports psychologist, was presented with a golden opportunity . . . one she couldn’t refuse. But that meant she had to pack up her things and head to the United Kingdom, leaving her beloved Brian behind.
“I wasn’t supposed to move away so soon. I was supposed to leave in June 2018 but my programme ended up being brought forward and because of the type of programme it is I couldn’t defer. I’m doing a professional doctorate. So it was like do or die with the opportunity. It wasn’t planned . . . . We were supposed to leave together,” Dawn explained.
She said things happened so quickly, they didn’t have time to plan anything.
“We recognised it was a case where things had to happen quickly. I had to leave in January 2018 and he wasn’t going to be coming. So we left our new apartment, moved back in with his parents. . . . I had three weeks to get to the UK,” she added. (DB)
