One of Karaoke’s best kept secrets was unearthed two Friday nights ago at the Rockley Resort & Golf Course in Christ Church. Mulligan’s Bar & Restaurant, situated on the premises of the clubhouse, threw open its doors to local musicians and karaoke fans each week, offering them an opportunity to showcase their talent.
All ten contestants of the just concluded 2010 Lime Karaoke Competition were invited to unwind and relax after their exciting finals at the Plantation Garden Theatre. Proprietors Shawn and Sharon Mesick took a moment from entertaining the contestants to comment on their plans for the competition.
“We will be staging our own karaoke competition soon, and in order to negate some of the past problems, we will have a panel of independent judges.
“We want to create an environment for Barbadians where amateur musicians and entertainers can showcase their talents in a relaxing atmosphere.
“Saturday night is open mic night – amateurs can sing and jam with a live band; Tuesday night is Quiz night, and Thursday night will be reserved for our big karaoke session.” (CH)
