Barbadians flocked Heroes Square last night to show their support for calls to end domestic violence.
They took encouragement from president of the National Organization of Women (NOW), Marilyn Rice-Bowen, when she told them that the first hurdle in the struggle had been overcome.
“So far, we can comfortably say that we have won round one,” Rice-Bowen said, and quoted Minister of Labour Senator Dr Esther Byer Suckoo, who two days ago reported that Cabinet recently accepted recommendations to update the Domestic Violence (Protection Order) Act.
“We still have far to go, but we are getting things moving,” the NOW boss said. (GA)
