Barbados Labour Party (BLP) leader Owen Arthur romped home in a predictable victory over Haynesley Benn early this morning, but his political future remains uncertain.
Arthur led his BLP into its second defeat at the polls and he said afterwards he would be consulting with colleagues before making any decision on the party’s leadership.
“I’m not going to comment on the future leadership of the party until I’ve had a chance to consult with my colleagues in full,” he said in his concession speech at party headquarters this morning after a nail-biting national poll.
The BLP went down in a tense 16-14 seat loss to the Democratic Labour Party after a recount of St Michael South- East constituency.
