LOCAL athletes hoping to qualify for the CARIFTA Games have been dealt a major blow as the track at the National Stadium won’t be available for trials on March 16 and 17.
And organizers of the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletic Championships (BSSAC) and the National Primary Schools’ Athletic Championships (NAPSAC) have gone back to the drawing board after learning yesterday that it could take as long as May.
Catherine Jordan, president of the Athletic Association of Barbados, (AAB) said the association’s officers would have to use all of their creativity to get a team together for the March 29 to April 1 Games in The Bahamas.
She will meet with the executive council of the AAB to put plans in place, but they have not ruled out travelling to another island to give the athletes the opportunity to record track times.
