IMPROVEMENT in the relationship with the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) is high on the agenda of new West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)?president Dave Cameron.
Against the background of turbulent exchanges and prolonged disputes between the two bodies over the past decade, Cameron is targeting a mending of the fences among his many priorities.
The Jamaican businessman made the pledge after he was elected WICB president on Wednesday when he unseated three-term boss Julian Hunte in a close poll (7-5) during the board’s annual general meeting at which his running mate Emmanuel Nanthan was elected vice-president following an 8-4 victory over Joel Garner.
“The players are the most valuable assets. Any innovation in terms of increasing our revenues will involve the players,” Cameron told reporters at the Accra Beach Hotel.
