Forde query

A CONCERNED Group, calling themselves Cyclists For Change, are now questioning former keirin and match sprint champion Barry Forde’s involvement in local cycling as coach/trainer with two of the island’s most promising riders.
Forde, who quit competitive cycling earlier this year after his latest failed drug test, was present during the recent National Track Championships at the Randolph Field velodrome at the National Stadium, monitoring the progress and offering advice to new king of local cycling, Darren Matthews.
Reports also indicate that Forde has been training Javed Mounter, Barbados’ latest silver medallist, who is preparing for the Junior World Championships in Moscow.
But this development has not gone done too well with the Cyclists For Change group, which has been at loggerheads with the Barbados Cycling Union (BCU) after a number of riders refused to participate in the National Road Race and the National Track Championships. (EZS)
