MORE?MONEY was spent this year than ever before marketing Barbados’ Crop Over Festival.
While the Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) usually spends between $100 000 and $200 000, promoting Crop Over around the world, this year it spent a whopping $630 000.
“That is unprecedented. We have never seen those levels put into marketing Crop Over,” Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy said yesterday as he reported on the festival at the annual breakfast meeting for international journalists at Hilton Barbados.
He said the lion’s share of the budget, $278 000, went to the United States market while $122 000 was spent in Canada, $100 000 in Britain and $80 000 in South America. (MB)
