Minister of Health Donville Inniss is delighted that more than 200 workers at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital ranging from nurses to orderlies, have been given staff appointments with immediate effect.
Inniss gave credit to the former and current board along with the management of the hospital for bringing closure to this issue of the appointment of staff at various levels of the hospital.
“For us as a Government and as an employer, it is more than just a piece of paper. It is a document that gives staff a level of security in knowing that they have been able to obtain permanent appointments to the hospital,” he said.
Acting general secretary of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) Roslyn Smith, confirmed that workers across the board were given appointment letters yesterday.
