The West Terrace Sea Scouts troop was at Brandons Beach, St Michael, on Saturday to earn swimmers’ badges.
The youngsters were also there to get a lesson in kayaking.
Troop leader Michael Broome said it was all part of the plan to stage positive activities for boys as well as teaching them respect for the sea.
“They are earning their Swimmers One badges and also doing kayaking, which is an aspect of our sea exercises. I am very pleased to see them adapting and taking in the lessons about how to respect the sea,” he said.
According to Broome, the troop was made up of former cub scouts 11-15 years old and venture scouts, 15 to 21 years old. He said the boys just needed positive things for channelling their energy.
He was “very happy” to see the large number of boys who remained with the group, despite all the Crop Over activities.
