Lawyer Andrew Pilgrim is calling on Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite to carry out a probe into how the police investigated a just-dismissed double rape case with a high profile.
The investigations saw his client Derick Crawford being held in prison for 18 months before the rape charge was thrown out by a magistrates’ court.
Pilgrim, who declared that nothing less would suffice, also said it was in the interest of Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin to do his own investigations.
He suggested that Dottin suspend the officers who had “extracted” a confession from Crawford.
Crawford was pronounced a free man on Thursday when he appeared before the Holetown Court in St James. He was freed when Director of Public Prosecutions Charles Leacock, QC, discontinued the case. (JS)
