NO MARATHON. No problem for Richard Kessio.
The distance might have been cut in two, but there was nothing half-hearted about the Kenyan’s effort after he came from as much as a kilometre behind to win yesterday’s half-marathon and relegate Matt Loiselle to yet another Run Barbados runner-up spot.
With the marathon abandoned this year, Kessio – the winner of the last two 26-mile events – got his just rewards in the half-marathon when he passed Loiselle two kilometres away from the Bay Street Esplanade finish line to win in one hour, 10:23 minutes.
It was the second runner-up finish in as many days for the luckless Canadian (1:10.36), who also came second in Saturday’s 10K.
He had to settle for the runner-up position in last year’s ten-kilometre event as well.
