THE prodigal son of West Indies’ cricket is back, and captain Jason Holder has welcomed the return of Darren Bravo to the Test team.
Holder told NATION SPORT yesterday that the presence of the experienced Bravo will be a boost for the Windies’ fragile middle order in the first Test starting at Kensington Oval today.
“Definitely, Darren brings a lot of experience into to the side. It is good to see him back in international cricket. The last series he would’ve played in would’ve been in the UAE (United Arab Emirates) against Pakistan. I remember him getting a hundred in the first Test match there when he had a pretty decent series,” Holder said.
Bravo, 29, has not played for just over two years following an unpleasant dispute which had dragged on after he was sent home in November 2016 for a misguided tweet aimed at Cricket West Indies president Dave Cameron.
This caused an acrimonious impasse with the regional board, but Holder said Bravo, who was chosen last October for the Twenty20 tour of India and the limited overs series in Bangladesh last month, was focused once again.
