This winter tourist season will more than likely yield more revenue for Barbados than last year.
Still, there is some uncertainty as it is yet unknown how much visitors will spend on direct tourism services.
President of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association Colin Jordan told the Nation today: “Our prognosis is that this year’s season will be somewhat better than last year where accommodation is concerned but we are not sure of the situation in relation to spending on direct tourism services such as car rentals, restaurants and tours, as those are booked once guests arrive”.
However, Jordan cautioned that the season would not be as good as the 2008 and 2009 season.
One direct tourism service – Harrisons Cave – reported they have been doing well and projected they will continue to do so.
Marketing manager Veronica Millington said they averaged 20 tours a day and, based on their projections and forward bookings, things were looking good.
