HOW Christmas came into being is the subject of the production Once Upon A Christmas being played at the Frank Collymore Hall in the City.
On Wednesday night Barbadians of all ages and walks of life were transported back in time to Bethlehem on that miraculous night when Jesus was born.
The production, which transformed Frank Collymore Hall into a Broadway-style atmosphere with over 160 local actors, reviewed the story of the first Christmas story which has been retold for generations. The line-up of presentations included dance, history, drama and comedy.
In this production, all the characters of that first Christmas have been brought to life.
The audience experienced the birth of Jesus through the eyes of those who just might have participated in the historic event.
“A young angel, eager to make a joyful noise unto the Lord . . . or the inn keeper’s daughter, anxious to help and comfort Mary . . . or the animals in the barn the first to see the newborn king.”
The “royal” production, which was presented by the Barbados Children’s Trust, and written and produced by Lady Simpson, is directed by Anna Adamira. It was designed to provoke people to watch it twice.
The production continues tonight and ends tomorrow night.(AH
