Still heart-broken

Margaret Gibbs (centre) still cries over the death of her son Donavere Codrington, his wife Cassandra, and children Shaquille, Shaquanda and Yashiro.
The five died when the apartment in which they had been living for only two weeks was swallowed up in the cave-in at Arch Cot, Brittons Hill, St Michael, on August 26, 2007.
Yesterday as Coroner Faith Marshall-Harris delivered the verdict in the matter after 13 months of enquiry, Gibbs quietly sobbed.
Before the packed Coroner’s Court on Roebuck Street, The City, Marshall-Harris declared the incident was avoidable.
Afterwards a grim-faced Gibbs, along with her children Nicole (left) and Troy Codrington (right), gathered outside the court contemplating their next move.
Gibbs was reluctant to speak, but Nicole said she was overwhelmed by the Coroner’s findings.
