V-ball tourney serves off tonight

Local fans starved of international volleyball will be in for a year-end and a new year’s treat when the 3rd VolleyBarbados Championships serve off tonight at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
Staged by Leisure Entertainment in conjuction with the Barbados Volleyball Association, the championships will feature defending champions from Canada, Montreal University Carabins, and another Canadian side, Bois de Boulogne College Cavaliers.
Double-crown 2011 women’s champions Chargers Volleyball Club, and league runners-up Rockets Volleyball Club, will fly the local flag in the four-team event which gets underway at 6 p.m.
Tonight, Bois de Boulogne take on Chargers in the opening match and the defending champions play Rockets in the late game.
The event runs until January 4 and there will be two matches each night at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Tonight and tomorrow the matches will be at the Gymnasium, and the action switches to the Barbados Community College from January 2 to January 4, for the final three nights. (PR)
