The Eastern Caribbean’s most prestigious horse racing trophy is in Barbados.
The Sandy Lane Gold Cup, pinnacle of equine supremacy in the region, arrived earlier today, as usual, on a British Airways flight from London, England.
And, as has also become customary, officials from the Barbados Turf Club, the Ministry of Tourism, and Sandy Lane, were on hand for the Cup’s arrival.
General Manager of Sandy Lane, Robert Logan, acting minister of tourism, George Hutson, and the Turf Club’s director Pamela Marshall were all smiles when British Airways captain Justin Van Gemerin brought the glittering trophy off the 747 jumbo jet just after 3 p.m. today.
Here, from left Theresea Barnett of Sandy Lane, Robert Logan, acting Minister of Tourism George Hutson, Captain Justin Van Gemeren, Michelle Burrowes of Sandy Lane and, in back, First Officer Neil Simpkins of British Airways with the 2011 Sandy Lane Gold Cup.
