Tributes continue to flow from Barbadians here and abroad who are expressing sadness over the passing of Dame Olga Lopes-Seale.
Dame Olga died early this morning at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The following are just some of the comments posted and memories shared.
Sonja Timothy: “Aunty Olga was a phenomenal woman who over the years contributed so much to the less fortunate. I had the opportunity as a child growing up to appear on her Saturday morning show and perform a song. My condolences to the family and the Barbados community. May her soul rest in perfect peace”.
Sheneza Smartt wrote: “The service of Aunty Olga was outstanding and will forever be remembered. She was the “Mother Theresa” to the Caribbean. I feel a personal sense of pride to celebrate her life as a Guyanese living in Barbados”.
Alexis Cumberbatch: Gone but not forgotten. Rest in Peace, Aunty Olga”.
Andrea Marshall posted: “Aunty Olga did good for the children of Barbados way back when on Rediffusion. She will be dearly missed. She is a true icon for Barbados. Her legacy needs to live on”.
Joanna Fitt-Singh said: “Every child growing up in Barbados knew of Aunty Olga. What a legend. She will be missed. No one could ever replace her!!!”
Sophia Lyn: “Aunty Olga had a heart of gold. She was an activist, a beautiful lady who tried to ensure the marginalised of Bajan society, especially children from poor families, had access to necessities of life. May her sweet soul rest in peace”. (CM)
