Barbados loses a patriot

The Barbados Labour Party says the death of Dame Olga Lopes-Seale is a “massive loss” to Barbados.
In a tribute today the BLP expressed profound regret at the passing of Dame Olga.
Dame Olga died earlier today at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
“To Barbadians at large, Dame Olga was much more than a warm personality, a consummate professional broadcaster and a humanitarian of the highest order.  Indeed, she became a genuine national institution and a much beloved and respected living legend in her time. This country can hardly forget her immeasurable contribution in various areas of endeavour which redounded to the national good, especially through her demonstrated love for the well-being of children, many of whose artistic, performing and broadcasting talents she discovered, exposed, promoted and encouraged to the enrichment of our daily lives”.
“Also to be remembered must be the selfless manner in which Dame Olga was prepared and able to virtually single-handedly work to ensure a better material life for her beloved children and their families across the nation, particularly at Christmas time”.
The BLP tribute noted: “Barbados has lost a great citizen and patriot whose shoes will be hard to fill, but whose deeds are nevertheless worthy of emulation and should be seen as a source of inspiration. May her soul rest in the eternal peace which she would have earned through her life of contribution and example”.
