THE Ambulance service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be back to near full capacity by weekend.Just three ambulances are functioning at the moment, but three more will be fully operational once again by Friday.Chief executive officer of the hospital, Dr Dexter James, said that the three ambulances now being fixed required minor siren, air conditioning, and compressor repairs. It means that in a few days time six of the seven ambulances will be service ready. James added that four of the eight elevators were working and that number will be increased by two in about six weeks. That’s because a crew from Puerto Rico are heading here to repair elevators 1 and 2 located close to the Accident & Emergency department.Elevators 3,4, 7 and 8 were all functioning, with work still to be done on lifts 5 and 6, which are close to the X-ray department.
