Two schools in Shield semis

Two school teams are among the four semi-finalists in the Sagicor General Shield Cricket Competition.
Foundation and Nicholls Baking Combermere, who contested the Barbados Cricket Association’s Under-19 final ten days ago, will come face to face again in the Shield semi-final after completing quarter-final victories yesterday.
Combermere, set up by Shayne Moseley’s 96 and Jonathan Drakes’ 90, easily brushed aside C.O. Williams Equipment Malvern by 66 runs at Pine Basin.
Malvern never seriously challenged the total and were dismissed for 166 after they were undermined by a five-wicket haul from former Barbados left-arm spinner Jedson Yarde.
At the Brewery, Foundation, the newly-crowned Under-19 champions, admirably defended a total of 138 by restricting Conrad Hunte Sports Club to 111 to win by 27 runs.
In next Sunday’s semi-finals, Combermere and Foundation will clash at the Desmond Haynes Oval.
The other semi-final will bring together Old Brigand Dover and Earthworks Melrose at Pine Basin.
In the day’s highest scoring match, Dover defeated BRC by 22 runs at Friendship, while Melrose beat Mount Gay North Stars by six wickets at Bayfield. (HG)
