Mohammed to make debut for Empire today

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO and out of favour West Indies left-arm wrist-spinner Dave Mohammed will make his local debut for ICBL Empire today in the Sagicor General Twenty/20 competition.Last year’s losing finalists Empire will meet Caribbean Lumber YMPC at Beckles Road in the second series of matches which start at 2 p.m. Both sides had wins in the opening roundlast Sunday.The 30-year-old Mohammed has played in five Tests and seven ODIs for the West Indies. However, like many other spinners in the Caribbean, he has not being able to secure a regular place in the regional side.Fellow Trinidadian teammate Rayad Emirt, who has played two One-Day Internationals for the West Indies, also made his local debut last week when he turned out for CGI Maple against Guardian General Barbados Youth in a losing cause at Trents.Recently, three Empire players in Alcindo Holder, Javon Searles-Scantlebury and Kevin Stoute played club cricket in Trinidad & Tobago.Other matches on today: defending champions TeleBarbados Carlton take on Inspire Sports Wanderers at Desmond Haynes Oval; Super Centre Spartan oppose BNB St Catherine at Queen’s Park; ESA Field Pickwick host Sagicor UWI at Foursquare Oval; Banks tackle CGI Maple at The Brewery; Police against Barbados Youth at Weymouth and LIME meet Old Brigand Dover at Wildey.
