SOME OF THE Barbados Water Authority (BWA) community tanks are mysteriously collapsing, putting people in water-scarce areas at risk of shortages.
So far, tanks have collapsed in Pot House, St John and Ginger Works, St Joseph.
Last month, the BWA installed 36 of those 1 000-gallon tanks. A reliable source said some of the tanks donated by corporate Barbados might not be fit for commercial use.
Those tanks were urgently installed after Innotech Aquaserve Limited had removed others as a result of the BWA defaulting on the lease payment on its headquarters at the Pine, St Michael. The BWA had been renting more than 100 tanks from Innotech, each with a capacity of 2 000 gallons, to service water-scarce areas in St John, St Joseph and St Andrew. (SB)
