Barbadian all-rounder Dwayne Smith fired Mumbai Indians to a thrilling last-ball victory over Chennai Super Kings with a stunning big-hitting display to the death in an Indian Premier League match yesterday.
With 14 runs needed from the last three balls from Australian fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus, Smith smashed a six and two fours to clinch a dramatic win by two wickets at the Wankhede Stadium.
Chasing 174 to win, Mumbai Indians slipped from 148 for two after a second-wicket partnership of 126 between Sachin Tendulkar (74) and Rohit Sharma before Smith delivered the tremendous performance in an unbeaten 24 off nine balls.
