Team fall short

Both the Division One league and the knockout champions recorded victories when the Barbados Netball Association’s league competitions continued recently at the Netball Stadium.
League champions NCC Ballers beat Guardian General Pride of Villa 55-39, while knockout champs C.O. Williams Rangers pulled away from Phoenix Gems for a 56-30 victory.
Renee Rudder scored 29 goals from 35 attempts, and Lydia Bishop missed only four of her 30 attempts for NCC Ballers. Latonia Blackman scored 31 from 33 in the losing effort for Pride of Villa.
Veteran Olivia Walcott scored 31 from 34, Nikita Piggott added 14 from 20 and Shakeena Rock chipped in with 11 as Rangers turned a 14-10  first quarter lead into a runaway victory.  
Laurel Browne had the hot hands for Phoenix Game, scoring 22 from 29.
In Division 2, UWI Blackbirds continue to roll over their opposition, this time beating Banks Spurs 47-39.  
Monique James had 27 from 37 and Mechelle Liburd 20 from 24 for UWI, while Rieah Holder led Spurs with 38 from 46 attempts. (SAT)
