DOZENS OF CARIBBEAN WOMEN who contributed to the cultural development of the region through song and dance were honoured by the Institute for Gender And Development Studies: Nita Barrow Unit of the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus recently.
The occasion coincided with celebrations on the 101st anniversary of International Women’s Day.
The honourees span a period of over 30 years, an era in the region’s musical history that represents the development and rise of a cadre of women who went on to make their mark on the international stage and contributed to the popularity and changing face of Caribbean music.
