At least three national sports associations are hoping to improve their facilities in the New Year.
The Barbados Tennis Association, the Barbados Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) and the Barbados Chess Federation (BCF) all say that enhanced facilities will benefit their sports in a major way.
Earlier this year, Tennis Association president Dr Raymond Forde told THE NATION that approval for the installation of four additional courts at the National Tennis Centre at Wildey was tentatively given by Town and Country Planning, but ground-breaking was held up after concerns were expressed by the Drainage Division.
Over the years the National Tennis Centre had experienced flooding after heavy rainfall. It was a problem that could be solved with the digging of new wells. (RG)
