Call it the snatch-and-grab squad.
The Royal Barbados Police Force has put together a special unit that has already started work on reducing the snatch-and-grab crime spree that is thought to be fuelling the cash-for-gold phenomenon.
But Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin is still asking Barbadians to leave their jewellery and valuables at home until the country’s law enforcement brings the situation under control.
Figures produced yesterday showed that Bajans have been robbed of jewellery valued at almost $1 million in the first two months of the year.
