One of the leaders in the fight for drug education and counselling thinks there is a spiral in the number of young men involved in homosexual acts in exchange for money.
Roger Husbands, head of the non-profit Drug, Education and Counselling Services, made the comment to the SATURDAY?SUN following a presentation at a discussion at the Randall Phillips Polyclinic in Oistins, Christ Church, Tuesday night.
“If you drive at night, there is evidence that young men are selling their bodies moreso than women,” he said. “Young men are taking over prostitution which was more of a women’s thing in the past. There are homosexuals out there who are preying on vulnerable little boys causing them to change the nature of their sexuality.
“The rise of homosexuality among our young men is a growing concern. We can’t sweep it under the carpet. I know of a situation where a 16-year-old young man left home and opted to sell his body.”
Husbands said that men were indeed in crisis and blamed that on some of them not taking up their responsibility at home.
