The signs are clear!
As part of International Women’s Day celebrations in Barbados, members of the gender equality committee of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) took to the streets of The City as part of their public awareness efforts to eradicate domestic violence against females.
This year they celebrate with a focus on domestic workers.
The members of the gender equality committee, armed with their placards, travelled from the union’s Solidarity House to Queen’s Park, then walked to St Michael’s Row and Roebuck Street before returning to Solidarity House as part of their “protest”.
Co-ordinator of the gender equality committee, Wilma Clement, said while women in Barbados were empowered there was still a lot of work to be done. (MM)
