Some Barbadians in parts of the country woke up to a dry Christmas Tuesday, prompting a Member of Parliament to declare she will be taking action.
In Vault Road, St Thomas, parliamentary representative Cynthia Forde said it had been four days without water and she was fed up.
“People are constantly complaining to me and now Joy-Ann Haigh [former Barbados Water Authority communications manager] was made redundant, you can’t get no one to answer. I understand what they are saying, but we haven’t seen a tanker yet. I don’t know who to contact now, but I will deal with this tomorrow as best I can. I’m just lucky I have a water tank or I could not cook for my family,” Forde fumed.
On Hillaby Main Road in the same parish, one woman told THE NATION: “When I got up at 5 a.m. to cook, there wasn’t any water, but it running slow now [around 1 p.m].” (CA)
