Clean sweep

A?MASSIVE?clean-up got under way yesterday at Furniture Limited Department Store on Cumberland Street, The City, a day after it was closed over environmental concerns.
And Minister of Health Donville Inniss, who visited the business for the second time in as many days, told members of the media that the clean-up “must be carried out as a matter of urgency”.
Inniss and a team led by Senior Environmental Health Officer Basil Pilgrim spoke to store owner well known businesswoman Asha “Mrs Ram” Mirchandani, for close to an hour yesterday and briefly toured Furniture Limited and another store in the area, Macy’s, which is also owned by the Mirchandani family.
Speaking outside the store, he explained that the Ministry of Health had received several complaints “regarding the conditions in and around the property” and as a result, officers from the Environmental Health Department moved in on Friday to carry out an inspection.
