Ackeem living his dream

Ackeem Francis is living his best life. He’s a creative in every sense of the word and he is definitely thriving at it.

Since starting at MAC Cosmetics at the age of 16, Ackeem has grown by leaps and bounds and is now regarded by some as one of Barbados’ best make-up artists.

Today, at just 22 years of age, Ackeem leads a busy life as a make-up artist, teacher and entrepreneur with his own lashes and beauty blender.

“I feel like everyone knows me for what I’ve done before. They know I was the guy from MAC, I would have worked there for four years, 2012 to 2016. I would have developed myself a lot more and tried to master my craft,” he acknowledged.

He said he had to make a big decision to move on from a company that helped to shape him.

“I was doing make-up classes, photoshoots outside of work and so on. It came to the point where the demand was too high for me outside of working hours, so it was tough. I decided it was time to go off on my own. It was scary, but I risked it and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” he said.

Ackeem said working for one of the top make-up brands in Barbados was an amazing experience. (DB)
