Northern Ireland’s ace driver Kris Meeke is coming for Sol Rally Barbados.
The winner of Sol Rally Barbados in 2008 and 2009 confirmed that he will return to the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport international this year to revisit the event that he once described as “the best ten days of my life”.
The confirmation also quelled rumours making the rounds in recent days of the imminent presence of the top driver.
Meeke is a favourite among Barbadian and Caribbean fans and his presence will no doubt heighten the level of competition in this year’s event which has attracted more than ten crews.
Comparing winning in the Caribbean with his “day job” as Peugeot UK’s driver in the IRC, Meeke once said: “In the IRC, I get a real sense of satisfaction when I get home for a job well done, but in Barbados I actually enjoy it while I’m doing it.”
At press time, RBC officials were busy fine-tuning in the run-up to Sol Go Further King of the Hill event on Sunday.
