PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Police say two 16-year-old suspects were assisting their investigation after the body of a 17-year-old boy was found in a shallow grave in Maracas Bay, north east of here on yesterday.
Police said they were led to the grave by a 15-year-old boy and that the hands and feet of Reno David were tied when the body was uncovered in the grave some 600 metres into the forest.
The authorities are working on the theory that David was killed because he had witnessed a stabbing in the area recently and that his death was to silence him.
The police said that without the help of the 15-year-old, the body would not have been found.
They said the two suspects are being questioned regarding the killing and that the 15-year-old is being held at an undisclosed location.
A post-mortem is expected to be performed today on the body.
