A challenge shield aimed at encouraging secondary school students to get involved in the agriculture sector has been established in the name of former Governor General Sir Clifford Husbands.
The Sir Clifford Husbands Agricultural Challenge Shield, conceptualized by the Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS), was launched yesterday at Petrea Gardens, St James.
As Sir Clifford has been known to have a passion for agriculture and believes that the youth must be a major contributor to its further development, the shield was launched in his presence, Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave and chairman of the RCS, Maizie Barker-Welch, among other specially invited guests. Sir Clifford is an avid supporter of the Barbados branch of the RCS. (AH)
