Hometown lass Jenny Benedict couldn’t live up to the spectacle that was the historic AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships showcase on Thursday after failing to survive the first round of her bout.
Contesting the 60kg category, the tenacious teen (left) was stopped in the first round after falling behind 9-2 on points against the Ukraine’s Oleksandra Sydorenko.
It was the country’s lone blemish following a glitzy opening ceremony.
