New zones

Squatters in some heavily restricted zones may end up with water connections that were previously banned.
Word of this came from officials of the Town and Country Planning Department yesterday during a seminar for sixth form students completing environmental studies.
The students were being brought up to date on the new zoning policy which is expected to be presented in Parliament for enactment.
The seminar, under the theme Water and Planning, was put on by the government department at the Gymnasium as part of its outreach programme. Students were allowed to ask questions and interact with officers from the department.
Jean Thorne, assistant town planner, explained that the new zoning policy would see a reclassification of the zone one areas resulting in some locations being less restrictive, allowing some development.
