Getting ready for Independence

It is beginning to feel a lot like Independence in Barbados as the “aquamarine, gold and black” can be spotted in various locations.
In Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St Michael, Wayne Burrowes set up shop over the weekend close to one of the entrances showcasing national colours and Independence memorabilia. He is the owner of a souvenir shop and wholesales Barbadiana.
“I set up every Independence at different locations – Sky Mall, Emerald City and Super Centre Warrens. I started [Friday] and have not done too badly, although I will get most of my business during the last two weeks in November,” he said.
Selling miniature flags, boxing gloves and shoes as well as scarves, flag pins, seatbelt covers and more – all in the national colours – Burrowes attracted a bit of attention, including brother and sister Jayden and Jayla Crichlow, who were intrigued by the miniature Barbadian flags.
